New campsite enhances walk experience on the Larapinta Trek
Category: News
Australian Walking Holidays is excited to announce the introduction of an additional campsite, resulting in four exclusive campsites on the Larapinta Trail in the Red Centre – servicing our Classic Larapinta Trek in Comfort, one of the Great Walks of Australia.
The new campsite, with name yet to be released, will open up further capacity on the popular walk for Australian Walking Holidays walkers. Designed inline with the existing award-winning, semi-permanent and eco-friendly camps, the new campsite will be architecturally designed by Neeson Murcutt, and will similarly feature a sheltered communal area with kitchen, lounge, and dining, all raised out of the dust.
In a similar style to the already established campsites on the trail, this new site will also feature a campfire pit to be enjoyed by guests whilst the hosts prepare delicious three-course meals for their walkers. Accommodation will be in safari style, spacious, stand-up size, sleeping tents featuring floor to ceiling windows, allowing the outback to be viewed in all its beauty. Solar panels, hot showers with organic toiletries, water-free toilets and the semi-permanent structure all contribute to continue minimising the environmental impact of walkers on the Larapinta Trail.
As most dates for this season’s walk were at capacity, the new departure dates coupled with the new campsite, will provide additional opportunity for eager walkers to experience this iconic desert trail from next season.
Over six days the Classic Larapinta Trek In Comfort itinerary traverses the ancient landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges in the red centre of the Northern Territory – for more information, a full itinerary and booking details click here.
