Why Guided Walks

Nothing clears the mind and sparks the senses like spending time in nature. Taking a guided walk with Great Walks of Australia means enjoying the tranquility, beauty and drama of nature with guides who know the land, are committed to your safety and the enjoyment of your experience.

Small group walking journeys offer a unique way to discover Australia.

This is hiking in comfort – we offer each guest the utmost in hospitality and care whilst they experience nature on foot. From five star resorts to comfortable swags, there’s a touch of luxury here different from traditional hikes that makes these walks stand apart.

Walk in style

The operators of each of our guided walks endeavour to leave you feeling revived and renewed in body and soul. We provide some creature comforts to make your journey a comfortable and relaxing one. Meals feature the highest quality regional produce. Many of our walks are lodge based and guests only carry day packs. On some walks your luggage is transferred for you, whilst on some of our walks, you’re only carrying your personal items in your pack as we provide everything else you need.

An experience like no other

Travelling with a guide delivers a deeper understanding of the regions you visit. Each member walk takes great care to select guides that will deliver a truly memorable and informative experience with our own uniquely Australian hospitality. Walking groups on these trails are small (10 to 16 maximum), allowing for special friendships with like-minded travellers to form.

With a guide you will travel in the footsteps of ancient people, wander through a timeless world and connect with the spirit of the land. Ultimately, with the help of your guide, these walks will provide a physical connection with a stunning landscape, but they give you so much more: we help you connect with your soul. Our walk experiences, for some guests, have been described as truly transformational as they disconnect from their lives, and reconnect with themselves.

Putting your safety first

Guides are trained to put your safety and security first. High-level first aid training, state-of-the-art safety equipment and practiced emergency procedures are all foundations of each Great Walks of Australia member walk operator.
