Venture into the heart of Australia on this breathtaking five-day, four-night guided walk through the World-Heritage listed Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park. The Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk is the closest accommodation to Uluṟu, the first and only multi-day walking journey to offer exclusive overnight stays inside the park itself, making your journey into this remote part of the world even more remarkable.
Exploring 54 kilometres from the towering domes of Kata Tjuṯa to the base of Uluṟu, this immersive experience is guided in partnership with Aṉangu Traditional Owners, expert storytellers and the living landscapes of the Red Centre. Along the way, walkers will sleep in beautifully crafted eco-camps and a private lodge, feast on chef-prepared meals under the stars, enjoy wellness therapies and connect with stories passed down over tens of thousands of years.
While carrying light day packs, expect dramatic desert sunrises, epic stargazing, cultural workshops and a deeper understanding of Country. It’s a rare privilege to walk in Aṉangu footsteps, learning from their ongoing connection to this land. Each day builds to the powerful moment of arriving at the Lodge, with extraordinary views across to Uluṟu, where ancient geology meets enduring connection to Country. The purpose built lodge offers a refreshing plunge tank experience, bushtucker-inspired refreshments and evening campfire time to reminisce.
This walk is a decade in the making and 500 million years in the shaping – a milestone in Australian sustainable tourism and cultural collaboration, led by the Tasmanian Walking Company.

Committed to Community
This walk is the result of a decade-long collaboration with Traditional Owners, Parks Australia and the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Board of Management – ensuring that tourism directly supports conservation and the environment, Indigenous cultural preservation and meaningful local benefit. Tasmanian Walking Company has committed to a target of 33% Aṉangu employment in the first 10 years of business. Traditional Aṉangu owners have contributed directly to the design of the campsites and trails, and they will continue to play an active role in hosting cultural workshops, trail maintenance and seasonal fire management, sourcing and training staff. The walk includes a direct A$500 per guest contribution – a portion of which goes to Parks Australia for environmental upkeep, with the remainder split between Traditional Owner payments and an Aṉangu business development fund.
Dedicated to the Environment
The Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk is a model for sustainable travel. Guests stay in eco-sensitive camps powered by solar, using collected rainwater, low-voltage lighting and efficient water-saving systems. Meals are sourced from local and ethical suppliers, reducing food miles and supporting community producers.
As a carbon-neutral operation, Tasmanian Walking Company applies Leave No Trace principles across every journey and continuously partners with Aṉangu communities to ensure their voices, stories and cultural ownership remain central.

Walk Itinerary
- Day 1 Yulara - Kata Tjuṯa - Camp One. Walking distance 8.4km (approx. 3-4 hours) Begin with a greeting from Traditional Owners, before travelling to Uluṟu–Kata Tjuṯa National Park. The walk starts with the Valley of the Winds trail, winding between the towering domes of Kata Tjuṯa. Guides explain how these ancient formations were created, sharing Anangu stories of Tjukurpa, the traditional law. Birdsong echoes through the gorge as you hike past spinifex and desert oaks. Arrive at Camp One, tucked into the dunes, where drinks and a chef-prepared dinner await. Sleep in a luxury tent or roll out a swag beneath the stars. The Milky Way glows above and silence settles in. Your journey through this deeply spiritual landscape has begun, and already, you feel changed.
- Day 2 Southern Kata Tjuṯa Dunes - Camp Two. Walking distance 16.5km (approx. 5-6 hours) Rise with the sun and depart camp for an off-track adventure through southern Kata Tjuṯa’s rarely visited dunes. This is remote walking at its most rewarding. Trace ancient pathways used for generations, stopping under a Wiltja for a relaxed trail lunch. As you move east, the silhouette of Uḻuru emerges, shimmering on the horizon. Guides interpret flora, animal tracks and stories that deepen your understanding of this Country. Arrive at Camp Two, perched on a ridgeline with uninterrupted desert views. Soothe your feet in a warm spa, toast the day at sunset, then gather for a hearty meal beneath starlight . Tonight, you sleep between two sacred giants – in a place few ever do.
- Day 3 Camp Two - Desert Trails - Private Lodge. Walking distance 16.5km (approx. 5-6 hours) Today’s walk tracks across red dune country through mulga woodlands, spinifex and desert oaks. The terrain undulates gently, offering peaceful solitude and long views. You’ll pause to observe animal prints, listen for honeyeaters and learn the uses of bush plants from your guides. Morning tea and lunch are served trailside, before your final approach to the architecturally designed Private Lodge with stunning views over both Uluru and Kata-Tjuta. Tucked into a sandplain, this is your base for the next two nights. After a long soak or massage, enjoy sunset views of Uluru from the deck. Dinner is a celebration of local produce, shared around a fire under blazing constellations. The desert feels intimate now, familiar, grounding, and deeply alive.
- Day 4 Lungkaṯa & Muṯitjulu Walks. Walking distance 12.3km (approx. 4-5 hours) (+ optional 8km) Your proximity to Uḻuru makes today especially powerful. Walk the Liru and Lungkaṯa tracks, where storytelling is embedded in stone. Anangu Elders may guide your journey to Muṯitjulu Waterhole, one of the rock’s most sacred sites, where ancient spirits are said to reside. At the Cultural Centre, exhibitions and artist-led galleries offer time to reflect. If energy and conditions allow, complete the full Uluṟu base walk: 8 kilometres of quiet, ever-changing perspectives. Back at the Lodge, a final fireside feast honours the journey you’ve shared. As the stars emerge, you’ll feel the gravity of place and the lightness of letting go. Uluṟu has a way of holding you, even as you prepare to leave.
- Day 5 Private Lodge – Yulara. Walking distance 0.8km (approx. 1 hour) Ease into your final morning. Watch the desert light shift from your room or take one last barefoot walk to the lookout. The journey ends with a gentle 800-metre stroll through desert scrub back to the vehicle pick-up point. Say farewell to your guides and transfer back to Yulara. There are no strenuous hikes today, only a slow descent from story to stillness. You’ve walked far, learned deeply and travelled gently.
